Additional Requirements for Dual Degree Programs

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Students must apply as a psychology major within the three-year Bachelor’s degree program, whose requirements include a 3.0 GPA or higher in high school and multiple units of college credits through AP, IB, or dual enrollment courses. The GRE admissions requirement is waived for students with a cumulative TCNJ GPA of 3.3 or higher. Students will need to pass the standard admission interview administered by the Counseling faculty at TCNJ, which will take place at the end of year 2 of the accelerated 3-year Bachelor’s. Pharmacy Program

Students must apply as a biology or chemistry major. Students must take all required courses at TCNJ, with the exception of non-science courses through AP, IB, or dual credit at another college. Students must have a reasonable plan for completion of all required courses with at least a C in each course prior to August 1 of the year of matriculation at Jefferson College of Pharmacy. Cumulative and science GPAs > 2.7. Students will have a supplemental application placed on their application portal. By the end of their first year of enrollment at TCNJ, students must submit a separate application for admission to the Early Assurance program, which will be evaluated by TCNJ faculty. Qualified candidates will be assured of an interview and final review for admission to the Jefferson College of Pharmacy, but enrollment in the doctoral program is not guaranteed. Physical Therapy Program

Students must apply as a biology or kinesiology major. Students must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA and a minimum 3.0 GPA in science prerequisite courses before their matriculation at Thomas Jefferson University. The application deadline for this program is December 1st. Students who meet the GPA requirement will have a supplemental application placed on their application portal. Jefferson will review applications and selections will be decided mid-March. Please contact Dr. Keith Pecor (biology) or Dr. Anne Farrell (kinesiology) for more information. Early Decision is not available to students applying to TCNJ’s seven-year physical therapy program, as this program has its own, unique application timeline. 

Seven-Year Medical Program

Students must have a minimum SAT score of 1400 on the Reading and Math sections from one test date OR a 34 composite on the ACT AND rank in the top 5% of their high school class to be considered for Seven-year Medical Programs.  Those who qualify must submit their Common Application or Coalition Application by November 1st and have all required application materials successfully submitted to the TCNJ Admissions Office as close to that date as possible.  Upon receipt of all required materials, TCNJ will email qualified candidates a supplemental application that must be submitted electronically within two weeks of receipt (or by December 1st, should that arrive first).  Those candidates with strong supplemental applications will be offered an on-campus interview with TCNJ faculty and staff.  Final interviews for the top candidates will be held at the New Jersey Medical School.  Please contact 7year@TCNJ.edu for more information. Seven-year Optometry Program

Students interested in the Seven-year Optometry Program must be a strong A/B student, with no C’s in any science courses.  They should be in the top 10% of their high school class.  They also must have an SAT score of 1360 or higher on the Math and Reading sections (with a minimum of 700 on the Math section) OR a 30 composite on the ACT.  The application deadline for this program is November 1st.  Please contact Dr. Sudhir Nayak for more information.
