U.S. News and World Report: TCNJ remains top public college in the north

U.S. News and World Report today ranked The College of New Jersey third (and first among public colleges) in its annual listing of the “Best Regional Universities—North.” It is one of a number of recent surveys to rate TCNJ highly.

Money recently looked at public colleges where students graduate fastest. Recognizing that the longer it takes a student to complete their degree, the more their degree will cost, the publication ranked TCNJ sixth in the nation among all public colleges and universities for having the highest four-year graduation rate.

A study published last month by PayScale.com measured return on investment. TCNJ placed 123rd overall, but among all public colleges and universities, the college ranked 43rd for students paying in-state tuition and 40th for out-of-state tuition.

Accounting.com handpicked the top 50 colleges and universities offering a bachelor’s degree in accounting based on their competitive graduation rates, reputations, and curriculum standards. TCNJ ranked 20th overall in the field and seventh amongst public institutions.

On the lighter side, grubhub.com reviewed its data to calculate the Top 20 Most Polite Colleges in its areas of operation. TCNJ was ranked 13th on that list, based on the number of students who say “please,” “thanks,” and “thank you” when placing their delivery orders.

In addition to being the top public college in its category in the 2015-16 U.S. News and World Report ranking, TCNJ is also tied for first in average freshman retention rate (94 percent). The college ranks second for the highest percentage of freshmen from the top 25 percent of their high school class (85 percent) and second in the actual graduation rate for 2014 (88 percent). TCNJ is rated third in the region as a Best College for Veterans.
